Wish we were there now. Had a great time there last june
The beautiful crescent shaped inlet is one that is beyond words. Afternoons and nights on the porch and in the hot tub are indescribable. Camp David is a beautiful home that has amenities like one’s personal home. Our family (child age 17 and 12) thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Camp David. The use of the Carolina Skiff makes the trip unforgettable. Each day we went out and adventured. We chased a shark (a few times) and used the Go-pro, we made videos of ray, saw puffer fish, star fish in abundance the size of dinner plates, and had some great footage while snorkeling. One day while walking while the tide was low, we even saw two sharks mating and took a video for my science class. IF YOU ARE A BONE FISHERMAN, this is the place for you. In fact, people come from all over to Casaurina Point to do this type of fishing.
While there, you must follow lots of Kathy’s advice which is on her website. For example, go buy some lobsters (if out of season) and cook on her grill. Make sure you get someone to take you out a little deeper and catch some snapper. We did. The fresh snapper cooked in the oven (whole) for about 25 minutes and then put on the grill were to die for. Nothing was better than the three nights we cooked at home and enjoyed the view.
Make sure you rent a car from the suggested place that Kathy has on the website. The car was clean and the people nice to work with. We enjoyed using the car to travel to Pete’s Pub (twice). The food is good there. Take the walk over the walkway to the rocks and go out to see where the old lighthouse stood.
We stayed at Camp David for six nights. Then we moved on to Hope Town for four nights. When we come back, we will stay at Camp David for the entire ten nights, use the Carolina Skiff for close proximity of the home, and rent the same 26′ boat from BlueWave Rentals that we had the last four nights for the entire trip. By doing so, we will have the perfect house, setting, fun nearby, and a way to travel to other islands for just the day or afternoon. (You would have to moor the boat a little deeper and make sure to know the tides as far as taking the bigger boat out.)
Without a doubt, I would return again and again. In fact, I would love to bring my son and a couple of friends for his senior trip. One can not ask for a better host or hostess than Gary and Kathy. Both go above and beyond to help one plan and and feel at home. Stay at Camp David. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!
Oh, almost forgot…please call Celisha Russell (Kathy’s advice on the website) to come to the house and have a massage on the front porch. It is a must. I did it twice! So relaxing. Celisha does a wonderful job.
We stayed at Camp David for the 3rd time in April this year and can honestly say the experience just gets better each time. As keen fishermen it is paradise.
Kathy and Gary are top class as nothing is to much trouble for them.
Try one of their properties you will not be disappointed
Thank you so much, Alan! 🙂

Family of 5 stayed at Camp David. Two young adults age 19 along with parents and grandmother who is handicap.
We had a GREAT trip. The house is beautiful!! The beach is gorgeous and very peaceful.
We used the kayaks and paddle boards, and the skiff.
Kathy is a complete joy. She’s the most responsive person I’ve come across. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Even providing a shower bench for my mother who is handicap. Kathy was extremely helpful answering my questions and assisting me with my planning. I highly recommend staying at one of her properties. They are well maintained and very nice. I look forward visiting again.
This is a vacation to spend with your family as a family- great quality time without everyone running in different directions. Of course everyone can do there own thing but your still together. This vacation was well overdue. My daughter is 19 and memorable vacations are valuable. She was never bored. She loved going for walks and seeing the sea turtles, sting rays and fish in the water. What an amazing get away!
Thank you Kathy 😊

We stayed at Camp David for a Mother’s Day getaway and it was just heavenly! Kathy is the most responsive host, I don’t know how she does it. Everything was explained in great detail beforehand so we knew just what to expect from arriving to the airport to pulling up the lovely house. The house is beautiful and the setting directly on the beach – which is a protected bay – is UNREAL! It feels like living inside a screen saver image. This house is so calm and peaceful and everything you need is provided. Spacious and spotless! There are flatscreen tvs and great wifi if you need it, but we enjoyed long talks and beach walks with each other. Not only can you walk along the shoreline, but there’s a sandbar *in the ocean* you can walk to and where some people fish. It’s such a unique setting! We dined out at some of Kathy’s restaurant recommendations, but it was also easy to prepare our own meals in the fully-stocked kitchen. It is truly an unspoiled paradise and a perfect beach house.
Thank you so much for this wonderful post. We look forward to seeing you in Abaco again.
